June 2026 - The Secret Life of Bees

On Thursday 18th June we enjoyed a wonderful visit from Angela of Wild Hill Apiary, Sutton‑in‑Ashfield, who shared an engaging talk on The Secret Life of Bees.

We learned about the different types of bees found in the UK — including honey bees, bumblebees, mining bees and solitary bees — as well as the roles within a colony. Angela also explained the challenges bees face and the small things we can all do to help protect our pollinators.

Members enjoyed a tasting of local honey, discovering how each variety has its own flavour and character. After the meeting, there was a chance to buy honey, sweet treats and handmade beeswax candles.

It was a simple, friendly and informative evening that left us all with a new appreciation for our busy little pollinators.
